Best Way to Remove Freckles with Natural Remedies

Freckles are small spots that appear on your skin, particularly on your face and body. Many people develop them in childhood and typically see them diminish as they age into adulthood.

However, some people keep them into adulthood and even gain new ones later on! Some people find them endearing, but many wish to have a balanced complexion, especially when the face is concerned.

I’ll first give you an idea of what causes freckles, and then we’ll get into the natural remedies you can use to get rid of them!

Let’s go!

What Causes Freckles?

The short answer is that freckles are caused by an increase in melanin production by your skin cells. Sometimes, certain skin cells produce more melanin than the rest, causing a freckle to appear.

The increased melanin production is typically triggered by overexposure to UV rays from the sun. Melanin helps to protect your skin from UV rays, so the more you expose your skin to it, the more melanin each cell produces.

Ordinarily, the process would cause a tan, where all of your skin gains a similar level of melanin. However, some cells react stronger to the UV rays and wind up producing even ten times more melanin than the other skin cells.

Thus, you gain a permanent freckle. But is it permanent? Fortunately, it’s not.

Prevention is Better than Cure!

The easiest way to get rid of freckles is not to get them in the first place! Use sunscreen when going outside and wear a hat. If your skin doesn’t get exposed to the sun’s UV rays in the first place, then you won’t need to worry about freckles in the first place.

Some people get freckles through genetics due to their skin cells reacting anyway and producing extra melanin. If this is the case, then there’s not much you can do to prevent it. This would be when natural remedies come into play.

Natural Remedies

apple cider vinegar with apple pieces

#1 Apple Cider Vinegar

What you will need:

  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Raw Honey

What you will do:

  • Mix an equal amount of ACV and honey.
  • Apply the mixture to your face and leave it there for twenty minutes.
  • Rinse your face with lukewarm water.

The malic acid within apple cider vinegar acts as an exfoliator, which helps to remove excess melanin in the skin. The ACV even works as a skin lightener, so if you wish, you can apply it to your entire face. You should apply it once per day.

aloe vera plant with morning dew

#2 Aloe Vera

What you will need:

  • Aloe Vera Gel

What you will do:

  • Apply and massage the gel into your freckles for two or three minutes.
  • Leave it for ten more minutes then rinse with lukewarm water.

Aloe Vera helps to balance the pigment in each skin cell as well as hydrating the face. You should apply it every day, morning and night.

baking soda powder on spoon

#3 Baking Soda

What you will need:

  • Castor Oil
  • Baking Soda

What you will do:

  • Mix a couple of drops of castor oil with a pinch of baking soda.
  • Apply it to your freckles and leave it there for half an hour.
  • Rinse it off with lukewarm water.

Baking soda exfoliates the skin. It removes dead skin cells and causes the skin cells to grow back faster with normal levels of melanin. Apply twice a day, morning and night

Final Thoughts

Yes, you could spend money to get micro dermabrasion home kits or some other form of pigment removal treatment. However, home remedies work just as well and tend to improve your skin’s health as they do it too.

If your freckles react in any way to one of these natural remedies, discontinue its use immediately. You may have an allergy to the ingredients within it. However, at least one of these three is bound to work so have at it!
